Visit Japan Web invites you to explore the Hakone Skyline, a scenic drive that offers spectacular views of Lake Ashinoko, Mount Fuji and the Hakone Caldera. The drive is about 14 kilometers long and takes about 30 minutes to complete. Along the way, there are several viewpoints, restaurants and attractions to enjoy.

The Hakone Skyline starts at Hakone Pass and ends at Nagao Pass. It is a toll road that operates from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. The drive is especially popular during the autumn season, when the leaves change color and create a contrast with the blue sky and lake.

Here are some of the highlights of the Hakone Skyline.

Lake View Rest House is a rest area with an observation deck that overlooks Lake Ashinoko as well as Mount Komagatake. You can also buy souvenirs, snacks, and drinks here.

Mikuni Pass is the highest point of the drive at 1,117 meters above sea level. From here, you can see Mount Fuji, the Izu Peninsula, and the Pacific Ocean. This is a great spot for taking photos and admiring the scenery.

Lake Ashinoko Tenbo Park is a park with a large lawn, a playground, and a picnic area. You can also enjoy panoramic views of Lake Ashinoko, Owakudani, and Mount Fuji from here.

Melody Pave is a section of the road that plays music when you drive over it. The music is created by grooves on the pavement that vibrate the tires. There are two songs to choose from: “Hakone Hachiri” and “Sakura Sakura”.
