Visit Japan Web invites you to explore Hamamatsucho. The Hamamatsucho station, situated on Tokyo’s renowned Yamanote line, encircling the city, is one of the most convenient stops on the route. It offers direct access to Haneda Airport via the Tokyo Monorail and features two iconic Japanese garden parks. Additionally, it serves as a convenient pivot point for those seeking respite from central Tokyo.

The Kyu-Shiba-rikyu Gardens and the Hama-rikyu Gardens are quintessential Edo period gardens (1603-1868). Despite the dominance of modern office towers and luxury hotels in Hamamatsucho’s skyline, these beautifully landscaped gardens serve as reminders of the area’s historical significance. The contrast between their gentle hills, ornamental trees, koi-filled ponds, and the modern metropolis represents a classic Tokyo cultural blend. The Nakajima Tea House sitting on an island in the middle of the pond offers the ancient art of the Japanese tea ceremony. For a panoramic view, visitors can ascend to the top  Tokyo Tower at a height of 250 meters.

During the Edo period, visitors could see the ocean from the second level of Zojoji Temple’s grand gate. Although those views are no longer available, the temple grounds provide an up-close view of Tokyo Tower. Adjacent to Tokyo Tower and right behind Zojoji Temple, Tokyo Shiba Tofuya Ukai, a tofu restaurant in a splendid old sake brewery, is situated.  Tsukiji Outer Fish Market and Sushi Workshop is a good place for visitors to learn how to make sushi. Here, professional chefs will teach visitors the art of sushi making.
