Visit Japan Web invites you to explore the Sapporo TV Tower ,constructed in 1957. It stands at a height of 147.2 meters and features an observation deck at a height of 90.38 meters.

Sapporo TV Tower is a master piece of Japanese architect Tachu Naito, who is also the designer of Tokyo Tower. It also boasts digital clocks installed at a height of 65 meters, donated by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. These clocks, placed on all four sides of the Tower, underwent repairs in 1998 and 2006. The interior and exterior of the Sapporo TV Tower underwent renovation in 2002. The wall color was changed from pale green to dark green on the second and third floors.

The ground floor of the tower houses an information center and shops. The second floor has a multipurpose hall and administration office. The third floor is home to a souvenir shop and restaurant. Additionally, the tower’s basement connects to the Aurora Town, an underground shopping arcade, and hosts a variety of restaurants in the “Tele-chika Gourmet Court”.

The Tower’s official mascot is “Tawakkie”, and the unofficial character “Terebi-Tosan” is also known. The elevator to the observation deck at 90 meters high is on the third floor. Visitors must purchase tickets to access the observation deck. From the observation deck, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Odori Park, Mount Ōkura, and Maruyama. Standing at a height of 147.2 meters, the Sapporo TV Tower used to be the most prominent landmark in Sapporo. But the construction of many high-rise buildings around Odori Park has made the Tower less conspicuous recently.
