Visit Japan Web Uminonakamichi Seaside Park

Visit Japan Web invites you to explore Uminonakamichi Seaside Park, situated on a narrow peninsula across the bay from central Fukuoka. It is a family-centric park offering various amenities and extensive open spaces for picnicking.
Spanning almost four kilometers, the park can be too extensive to explore on foot. But there are cycling trails available for easier exploration. Visitors can rent bicycles at the entrance gates for 500 yen per three hours or 700 yen per day. Additionally, a bus service operates between the park’s main sites during spring and autumn, with a cost of 200 yen per ride or 300 yen for a day pass.
The park is renowned for its spectacular flower displays, featuring millions of flowers. They bloom at different times of the year, predominantly between mid-March and early autumn. Additionally, there are approximately 2000 cherry trees positioned throughout the lawns and along the cycling trails, creating stunning cherry blossom tunnels when in bloom and establishing Uminonakamichi Seaside Park as one of the city’s popular cherry blossom spots. The trees primarily consist of the Somei Yoshino and Oshima varieties, typically flowering from late March to early April.
A brief walk across the train tracks leads to the Marine World Uminonakamichi, an aquarium that showcases the aquatic life. The aquarium’s primary tank is a massive, seven-meter deep pool teeming with diverse marine life, including over 120 sharks belonging to 20 different species. Outdoor tanks are also available for visitors to interact with dolphins and sea lions during feeding sessions.
Furthermore, the aquarium boasts a large stadium pool where visitors can watch dolphin and sea lion shows. It opens up to Hakata Bay, offering spectators a magnificent view of central Fukuoka during the shows.
